The museum’s exposition presents archaeological objects belonging to ancient cities of Aulon, Orikum, Amantia which territory occupies the present-day region of Vlora.

It was founded in 1950 by a professional group of actors, and has been located in the same building for more than 65 years, an interesting historical and symbolic fact. Prior to World War II it served as the Albanian Parliament, but in the 1950s it became a lovely place for entertaining children.

Road Egnatia was a road constructed by the Romans in the 2nd century BC. It crossed the Roman provinces of Illyricum, Macedonia, and Thrace, running through territory that is now part of modern Albania, the Republic of Macedonia, Greece, and European Turkey.
