Mujo Ulqinaku was an Sergeant of the Royal Albanian Navy during the Italian invasion of Albania. After his death, he was awarded the title people’s Hero of Albania.
Was built in the city centre between the 5th and 7th centuries ad. The area of 39 m in diameter, and lined with marble. In the middle of this circular space was probably a statue of the Emperor.
Also known as New Mosque, it was built in 1931 under the Kingdomship of King Ahmet Zogu I on the site of an older mosque from Ottoman times.
The mosque was built in 1502 and named after the Ottoman Turkish Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror (Sulltan Mehmet Fatihu). Closed by the Communist authorities, it became a cultural monument in 1973.
The Orthodox Church was built during the years of 1994-2002 and was inaugurated in 2009.
The Durres Archaeological Museum in Durres, Albania, established in 1951, is the largest archaeological museum in the country reopened after the reconstruction works in 2015.
